Flood Situation Worsens around Dhaka

Fresh areas in the eastern parts of capital Dhaka have been flooded with small rivers around the city are flowing above danger level.
More areas will go under water by Saturday although the city’s central part will remain out of danger for a couple of days more as the water level in Buriganga is still below the red mark, flood forecasters said.
Small rivers surrounding Dhaka and Narayanganj swelled further on Friday while the Buriganga was set to cross the danger level in two or three days, a bulletin of the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre said Friday.
Boats replaced other modes of transport in many submerged roads and lanes of Rajarbagh, Manda, Maniknagar, Kusumbagh, Debpara, Nandipara, Gulpara and Trimohani in the eastern part of the city. Some other areas are likely to be inundated by Sunday, the bulletin warned.
