Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury , the Advisor on Bangladesh Foreign Affairs begins his three day official tour to Moscow, the first ever trip to Russia by any Bangladeshi Foreign Minister’s level official since the end of the Soviet era.
Foreign ministry officials said Dhaka and Moscow were scheduled to sign a consular convention under the purview of the Vienna convention when Iftekhar and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, hold officials talks on Monday.
In the official talks, Dhaka will focus on strengthening bilateral relation and boosting trade and economic cooperation.
Apart from holding the official talks, the advisor will call on the prime minister in-charge (deputy prime minister) Sergei E Naryshkin and the governor of St Petersburg Valentina Matvienko, said a foreign ministry release.
