A Bangladeshi official says the president of the country will remain in office after his five-year term expires this week.
In an interview with Voice of America, Bangla Service, Law advisor Mainul Hosein says President Iajuddin Ahmed will continue to serve until a new parliament is elected. Hosein says this will not create a constitutional crisis.
The new parliament will select Ahmed's successor.
