Supporters and opponents of US military involvement in Iraq are rallying in Washington as the anti-war movement kicks off a week of planned demonstrations.
An anti-war coalition called ANSWER plans to have Iraq war veterans and family member of soldiers march on Saturday from the White House to the Capitol. Once at the Capitol, the group plans to stage what it calls a "die-in," in which people will lie down to symbolize the American troops who have perished in Iraq.
The group plans further demonstrations aimed at Congress later this week.
Supporters of the war launched their own rally in Washington today. They are led by a group that includes Vietnam War veterans called the "Gathering of Eagles."
