Bangladesh Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury is seeking support from the Afghan authorities in securing the release of abducted BRAC employee Nurul Islam.
The adviser on Tuesday sent a letter to his Afghan counterpart Rangin Dadfar Spanta in this regard. In his letter, the foreign adviser said that BRAC is a Bangladeshi NGO with good reputation worldwide for its social services. He said Nurul Islam's mission was purely of a peaceful and humanitarian nature and that his family is deeply distraught. He also said that the people of Bangladesh have always stood by their Afghan brethren at all times under all circumstances. Mr. Iftekhar Chowdhury requested Mr. Spanta to give necessary publicity to his appeal.
