Writer Minakshi Datta lives in New York with husband Jyotirmoy Datta, a prominent writer and essayist.
Minakshi Datta had translated many classics and is continuing to write. She has published several books of memoirs, translations and self-help books. She has worked for many years as a teacher, most recently at Seward Park High School in Manhattan where she was a counselor for immigrant children. Some of her most popular books are “Dr. Zhivago”(translation), 'Kalki', 'Bideshini', 'Pade pade ranna', 'Album theke koyekjon' and 'Griho Bondhu'. She has just finished writing a novel 'Tarun Shahar Deluxe Charter' and a short story for children for the annual Puja literary season.
.She was educated in Kolkata at the prestigious Presidency College and later taught at Loretto College.
Minakshi Datta is the daughter of another important figure in Bengali poetry, Buddhadev Bose.
