The question of role of Police in some sensitive social issues is an ever- debatable point in society. Recently, when a young man died in Kolkata under suspicious circumstances and there was police involvement, the issue became extremely controversial. The leftist government of West Bengal became defensive and the storm of protest reached every corner of India. The Human Rights organizations in India launched protests. The West Bengal government first ordered CID Investigation, but facing mounting political pressure ordered Judicial Inquiry.
