India’s Central Government’s Planning cCommission has approved the Howrah - Rajarhat Metro.
The 17 km East-West Metro will connect Rajarhat in the east to Howrah station in the west through a tunnel below Hooghly.
Earlier the proposed East-West Metro project got a nod from the state Cabinet.
Japan Bank of International Cooperation (JBIC) will fund 55 Percent of the project and the Central and state government will fund equally the rest of the project. Howrah - Rajarhat Metro is the new name for the East-West Metro project.
