Deadly Storm Drenches Southern Bangladesh

A powerful rainstorm hit southern Bangladesh overnight, late Monday, killing at least seven people and leaving the port city of Chittagong knee-deep in flood waters.

Several people were injured and homeless as mudslides demolished homes and uprooted trees.

Authorities and reports say heavy rains flooded roads leading into Chittagong city, cutting off access.

More rain is forecast over the next several days.

Storms and flooding are common in Bangladesh during the traditional monsoon season.

Matiur Rahman Chowdhury has the details about the weather situation in Bangladesh.
