We’re not Interfering with Bangladesh Government’s Policy Matters : Moeen

During his seven –day trip to USA General Moeen U Ahmed, the Chief of Bangladesh Army exchanged views with the local Bengali newspaper journalists in New York.

The army chief said that in every country the armed forces support the government so there is nothing unusual in helping the caretaker government in Bangladesh to run the administration. But, he added, we are not doing anything which amounts to interference in the policy matters of the government.

The journalists in new York asked many questions which ranged from the army’s sincerity about holding the elections on time , external pressure for return to democracy in Bangladesh , possibility of getting back money smuggled out to measures for holding free and fair elections in Bangladesh.

When asked who in Bangladesh is the most corrupt, General Moeen said that corruptions have worked like deadly disease in almost all spheres of Bangladeshi lives. The army chief said that people should be able to find honest persons to give leadership to Bangladesh. He added, “ it is the responsibilty of the country to identify and then also to inspire him to come forward to lead.”
