Due to internal political dynamics in India, the implementation of Indo-US Nuclear Accord for Civilians is facing severe challenges. The partners in India’s coalition government UPA , have been objecting to some of the clauses of the accord. Some amongst the political partners in Indian government have even threatened to come out of the government resulting in the possible fall of Manmohan’s government .
It is in this backdrop, that the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has spoken to the US President George W Bush explaining him the situation.
In this context Dr Anindya Majumder , Professor of International Relations from Jadavpur University in the Indian state of West Bengal analyzes the situation. In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service , Dr Majumder , who is an expert on Indo-US relationship, says that this delay could put India into a difficult position for achieving the high power role in International politics which India rightly deserves.
