The statue of the Hindu goddess Durga has gone through transformation over the ages. What is now considered as classical image was once thought to be a modern image.
This is, therefore, nothing unusual that what is modern today would be transformed into a classical image. Differences are also noticed in the puja mondop. What used to be a joint Mondop for the Durga and her accomplices has now changed into a sort of a one unit family abode.
Transformations have also taken place regarding the statue itself. The traditional Durga has ten hands but there are modern Durga statue created with four hands.
