Bangladesh President Iajuddin Ahmed will leave Dhaka for New York on October 30 on a weeklong visit to the United States.
During his stay in the USA, the president will attend functions in Ohio and New Orleans. President's wife Anwara Begum, the military secretary and the secretary to the president and officials concerned will accompany the president.
Meanwhile, US Charge d' Affaires Geeta Pasi called on the president at Bangabhaban and discussed matters of bilateral interest, including his upcoming visit to the United States. The US envoy hoped that the president's upcoming visit to the USA would be "very successful" and wished him "a very pleasant stay."
During the meeting, the president said Bangladesh is committed to holding a free, fair and credible general election within the timeframe set by the Election Commission. He invited international observers to observe the polls.
