West Bengal Home Secretary Prasadranjan Ray on Wednesday said to reporters that the government has given responsibility to law enforcement agencies to implement rules for prevention of price hike and hoarding. He made the comment after the Session at state secretariat Writers' Building.
Home Secretary said “The government has little scope to take action against hoarders under the present Essential Commodities Act. If the provisions of Anti-Hoarding Act are invoked, the police can take action against them. Some traders are holding back the products and a few cases have been registered. ”
