India fondly remembered former prime minister Indira Gandhi on her 23rd death anniversary, with President Pratibha Patil leading the people in paying rich tributes to the assassinated leader.
Patil, Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi were among those who paid floral tributes at 'Shakti Sthal', the memorial of the former prime minister.
The day was also observed in Kolkata. Indira Gandhi was assassinated on October 31 in 1984 by her Sikh bodyguards in retaliation for Operation Blue Star at the Golden Temple.
