Ahmed Ali is running for a City Council seat in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
He is a Bangladeshi American and a businessman. The thirty-four year old Ali was in the US Navy and is a disabled veteran.
In an interview with Voice of America, Ali said he was raised in USA and feels it is very important for minority groups to be part of mainstream American politics and to have representation. Ahmed Ali hopes other minorities will also take part in the mainstream politics in the future.
