Bangladesh Court punishes two Government Officials for Corruptions


A Bangladesh court in its six separate judgments here has sentenced two government accounts officials to a total of 81 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for misappropriating a bulk amount of government money in Naogaon. Divisional Special Judge Sazedul Karim found the convicts guilty under sections 409/420/467/468/477(A)/201/109 of BPC and 5(2) of the Anti-corruption Act 1947 and pronounced the verdicts in six days and the last one was handed down today.

The court also fined the convicts Taka 2,70,35,362 each, in default, to suffer 26 years more in jail with hard labor. The convicts were identified as Accounts Officer Mahbubur Rahman and Junior Auditor Ashraful Haque of Dhamuirhat Upazila Accounts Office in Naogaon.
