Export-import through Benapole land port remained suspended since Monday morning due to an indefinite strike enforced by Trinamul Congress in the Indian side of West Bengal.
Trinamul Congress and its allies have called for the strike in the state protesting the recent incidents at Nandigram village, 120-km south of the state capital Kolkata. Hundreds of goods-laden trucks got stranded on both sides of the border at Benapole and Petrapole check posts. Buses on either side of the border also remained stranded causing immense sufferings to the passengers.
