Our guest is Hiron Chowdhury who although is an expert on Information Technology is widely known as a Bengali cultural activist in greater Washington. He is a versatile artist who takes pleasure in singing, playing key board and acting and directing plays.
Not in participation alone, Hiron is a wonderful organizer too. He coordinates a group called Dhrupod which literary means classics and the group has produced and presented several programs which rank at the top. Hiron Chowdhury and his wife love to play hosts in a number of cultural programs performed by renowned singers from Bangladesh and West Bengal .
In this exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service, Hiron talks about his cultural interests and activities , staging of Shojon Badiyar Ghat , a musical ballad which was very much appreciated by the audience. and the fact that they have been collecting money to aid the victims of natural disasters in Bangladesh.
Dhrupod, ORCA (Old Rajshahi Cadets’ Association) , Ekattorer Golpo and Patriotic Bengali , an organization of the Bengali students in George Mason University all these groups combined together to collect contributions for flood affected people in Bangladesh.
