After the devastative cyclone on 15 November 2007 , in a primary estimate , One hunded sixty billion Taka has been lost . According to government estimates so far 3161 people have lost their lives and 6,851,000 people have been affected by cyclone sidr.
Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh General Moeen U Ahmed on Sunday urged the people to come forward to help accelerate the relief and rehabilitation work in the cyclone-hit regions in a co-ordinated manner. He said 16 helicopters of the US Navy ship USS Kearsarge will start relief and rescue operations from tomorrow in the remote areas of the cyclone-affected districts.
