Dr Quazi Shahabuddin, the director general of Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) and an expert on food security, predicts that there may be a short fall of 3.5 million tons of food grain due to recent flood and cyclone.
A lot will depend on the Boro rice production in the coming months, he adds.
