The Chief of Army in Bangladesh General Moeen U Ahmed, has expressed concern over the price-hike of essentials and appealed to all irrespective of party affiliation to come forward in controlling the prices.
Gen Moeen made the appeal through journalists in the wake of abnormal price-hike of rice in local markets in last few days. Expressing his concerns about the price-hike he said that he had personally talked with the chief adviser on how to control it.
He mentioned various activities, including OMS, VGF and Food for Work programs which could help reduce the rice price hike. Gen Moeen attributed the price-hike of essentials to production loss of about 20 lakh tons due to two floods and cyclone last year, increase in rice price in international market and exorbitant transportation cost due to increased fuel price.
