Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) veteran Jyoti Basu on Saturday supported the policy of India’s West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's of welcoming private capital in the State for industrialisation purpose.
Basu said that socialism was not achievable at this point of time. He said that Socialism is a far cry.
Basu added that although Socialism was their political agenda and it was mentioned in their party document, but capitalism would continue to be the compulsion for the future.
The West Bengal Chief Minister Bhattacharjee, on January 3, had strongly come in the favor of capitalism saying that socialism cannot be used as the only way to industrialize the state.
