Four Advisers Resigned From Cabinet in Bangladesh

Four advisers to the military-controlled interim government were dropped from the cabinet on Tuesday for reasons not disclosed to the media putting an end to speculations over their fates for the last few days.

Asked by the chief adviser’s office to resign, law adviser Mainul Hosein, industries adviser Geeteara Safiya Choudhury, health adviser ASM Matiur Rahman and food adviser Tapan Chowdhury separately tendered their resignations to the cabinet division, official sources confirmed. The resignation letters were sent to the president’s office on the day, just three days ahead of the completion of the interim government’s one year in office. Earlier, on December 26, education and cultural affairs adviser Ayub Quadri quit the cabinet over the artifacts scam.
