Fakhruddin Reiterates his Promise to return Bangladesh to Democracy


The Chief Advisor of the caretaker government in Bangladesh Fakhruddin Ahmed said on Saturday that the government was considering lifting restrictions on indoor politics countrywide and gradually relaxing the state of emergency depending on 'needs and circumstances'.

Addressing the nation on the first anniversary of the military-backed caretaker government in office, he said his administration would soon take measures to open dialogue with the political parties in line with the decision taken at the advisory council's meeting Thursday.

He hoped that the political parties would take this opportunity of being democratic and free from corruptions. He reiterated the previous commitments that his government is determined to hold parliamentary elections latest by December , this year.

In his address to the nation , Fakhruddin also narrated the steps his government has taken to control the price hike in Bangladesh.
