A special court in Bangladesh will hear a new graft charge against detained former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina next week.
The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the charges at the court on Jan. 14 accusing Hasina of accepting 30 million taka in kickbacks in a power plant deal during her term in office.
Meanwhile, a leading Canadian lawyer and professor at McGill University, Dr. Payam Akhaven, arrived in Dhaka to work as a counsel for detained Awami League President Sheikh Hasina and its Presidium Member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim.
