Governor O’Malley Appoints Anis Ahmed to Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs


Maryland’s Governor Martin O’Malley appointed Anis Ahmed, a Bangladeshi American as a Commissioner for the Governor's Commission on Asian Pacific American for a four year term.

In an interview with Voice of America, Mr. Ahmed explained his responsibilities as a member of the Commission. He said as a commissioner he will protect the rights and promote the interests of the Asian Pacific American community in the State, serve as a liaison between the community and the Governor's office, other state agencies, and the General Assembly on relevant issues. He said he will promote economic development within the Asian community, and promote international trade between Maryland companies wanting to do business in Asian and Pacific countries.
