Bangladeshi Foreign Advisor Leaves for Japan

Foreign Affairs Advisor of the caretaker government of Bangladesh, Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, who left for Tokyo today at the invitation of Japanese Foreign Minister Masahiko Koumura, expressed the hope that his visit to Japan "would expand bilateral cooperation".

In his pre departure statement Iftekhar said that Japan and Bangladesh can do a lot working together. Japan will play a significant role as the host of G-8 Summit in global economy this year. She is a major actor in the international stage. Bangladesh is a 'thought-leader' in development and a potentially important player in global economy.

During his four-day visit, the foreign affairs adviser is scheduled to hold formal bilateral talks with Japanese Foreign Minister Koumura. The Japanese foreign minister will also host a dinner in honor of Iftekhar following the talks on Monday.
