Neighbors Bangladesh and India are one step closer to restoring a direct passenger train link for the first time in more than 40 years.
An official in Bangladesh's interim government said they have agreed to a key Indian demand for a fence along the rail line near the border between the two nations.
Direct passenger train service between the two countries was suspended after a war between India and Pakistan in 1965, when Bangladesh was the eastern province of Pakistan. Bangladesh became an independent country in 1971.
