Bangladesh Observes International Women’s Day


International Women’s Day was observed in Bangladesh amidst renewed pledge to protect women’s rights and with assurance to make women’s participation in all sphere of national life in Bangladesh.

On this occasion, Chief Advisor of the Caretaker Government in Bangladesh Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed called for a change in the social attitude towards women to ensure their contribution to the economic development of the country.

The Chief Advisor was addressing a women's rally at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the city to mark International Women's Day.

In Dhaka a concert co-organized by Transparency International Bangladesh and the Anticorruption Commission to mark the day, with the slogan 'WakeUp People. Wake Up for Women's Rights' brought 30 thousand young men and women together on Saturday to celebrate International Women's Day.

These two organizations jointly arranged this program with the aim of linking the anti-corruption movement with women's rights.
