Kemal Dervis, head of United Nations Development Programme is visiting Bangladesh.
He met with Finance Adviser Mirza Azizul Islam and later said that UN will give budgetary and food assistance to Bangladesh to help the people hit hard by very high food prices.
Mr. Dervis did not give a specific figure on the assistance. He said it is currently being worked out with donors.
