Dhaka Metropolitan Police has sent a letter to Supreme Court Bar Association asking the association to refrain from holding the elections.
The letter said “According to the Emergency Powers Rules, prior permission of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner is required for holding such elections in the Dhaka metropolitan area.”
The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) is supposed to hold the election on Monday. The SCBA officials were making last minute preparations when they received the order.
