Son of Ex-Bangladesh Prime Minister Formally Charged With Graft

The elder son of Bangladesh's former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has been formally charged with corruption more than a year after he was detained on allegations of illegally amassing wealth and concealing his assets.

Along with Tarique Rahman, the anti-corruption commission also charged his wife and mother-in-law on Tuesday.

Rahman is facing a number of other corruption cases. He was arrested in March last year and has been held in a jail in the capital, Dhaka, ever since. His mother, ex-leader Khaleda Zia, was also arrested last year by Bangladesh's army-backed interim government and stands accused of graft.

Zahurul Alam has more on the story.
