Islamists in Sylhet brought out huge processions opposing the interim governments Women Development Policy which says about equal rights of women in Bangladesh.
The agitators clashed with the police and fifty people were injured. Police had to use tear gas to disperse the crowd.
The demonstrators shouted slogan against the Women Development policy and demanded the resignation of the Advisor for Women’s Affairs Rasheda K Chowdhury.
The Islamic fundamentalists in Bangladesh are claiming that equal rights between man as woman as far as the inheritance of property is concerned is against the Koran.
