Bangladeshi painter Farida Zaman , who is now visiting the USA , in an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service narrates her story on how she got interested in drawings and paintings.
She said that in spite of lack of opportunities for drawing pictures which children get today, she became involved in drawing since her childhood days. She said that she was lucky not to get any objections from her family when she decided to study arts and crafts.
Farida Zaman has got a lot of oil paintings as well as some mixed media . She said that she has worked a lot on fishing net ; it has been a favorite theme of her paintings since the beginning. Another theme of her painting was Bazar where she has painted women working in the market places. But primarily she is influenced by fishing themes essentially because the place where she lived was predominantly a fishing area.
