Visiting Chinese foreign minister Yang Jiechi on Thursday expressed his government’s willingness to push forward relationship with Bangladesh and see it as an ‘important actor’ in regional and international affairs.
He also deeply appreciated Dhaka’s firm support for the one-China policy and Beijing’s efforts for a successful holding of the Olympics scheduled for August.
Chinese foreign minister described the Tibetan protests as miscreants.
He told reporters after the official talks with the Bangladesh foreign affairs advisor Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury he said that China deeply appreciate Bangladesh’s firm support for the one-China policy and the Chinese government’s handling of the situation in Tibet. The talk was held at state guest house Padma.
Jiechi said that we encourage more exchanges in international and regional affairs and China will continue to see Bangladesh playing a larger and important role in regional and international affairs.’
