The Asia Pacific adviser of IMF Says Protecting the Poor From High Price of Essentials is a Challenge for Bangladesh


The Asia Pacific adviser of International Monetary Fund Thomas Rumbaugh, was in Bangladesh on a two day visit.

He said at a press conference before leaving Dhaka that protecting the poor people from the impact of high prices of food, essential commodities and fuel remains the biggest challenge for Bangladesh.

Mr. Thomas Rumbaugh expressed his support for the government's expansion of social safety net in the FY09 to offer free and subsidized food to the poor.
