US Ambassador to Bangladesh, James F Moriarty has met with Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury at the foreign ministry.
The US Ambassador said that he hopes that the planned elections in Bangladesh would be held in time. He said he has heard nothing to the contrary, and that the Bangladesh government understands the need to move ahead with the preparation for it. He made the comment when he spoke to reporters afterwards.
The two officials also discussed bilateral relations, trade, political issues and development cooperation. Ambassador Moriarty said that Bangladesh and the US have a strategic partnership and many common interests.
