A ferry boat in Bangladesh capsized during stormy weather late Monday, leaving at least 41 people dead and dozens missing.
The boat overturned in the Ghorautra River in the Kishoreganj district about 100 kilometers northeast of the capital, Dhaka. Authorities say the boat was carrying about 150 passengers, about 50 of whom managed to swim ashore.
Rescuers say many bodies have been recovered from inside the capsized boat and they fear more are still trapped inside. Many ferry accidents in Bangladesh are due to poor safety standards and boats are often loaded far beyond capacity.
