Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury recalls the Days of Liberation War in Bangladesh


Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, a retired army officer who also served as an Ambassador for Bangladesh in Washington, recently visited Washington on a private tour.

Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury was a valiant freedom fighter in the War of Liberation in Bangladesh. He also lost one of his legs during an operation against the enemy.

In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury recalls the days of Liberation War beginning from the crucial night of 25 March 1971 when the Pakistani army cracked down on the freedom loving innocent people of Bangladesh .

He mentions the day when Major Ziaur Rahman declared his rebellion against the Pakistani army and began an organized fighting against them which was of course preceded by people’s prolonged political movement for emancipation. In this interview he goes details about the days of liberation war in which he was an active fighter.
