The foreign ministry in Bangladesh has expressed its cautious reaction about the statement from US embassy in Dhaka on recent mass arrests.
A spokesperson from the foreign office, without mentioning the name of US Embassy, said these types of statements from foreign countries could be seen as interventions in the internal affairs of Bangladesh. On Sunday, a spokesperson from the US Embassy said that they have asked the Bangladesh government to explain the reasons for such mass arrests. T
he embassy spokesperson said that US wants to see the detainees being treated well and getting a complete legal and consitutional rights. Bangladesh government spokesperson said that Bangladesh expects that the foreign diplomats should refrain from making any such comments which could be considered as interference in the internal affairs of the country. He said that arrests were made as a precautionary measure prior to election.
