The Indonesian Salim industrial group, which has agreements with the West Bengal government to develop a number of infrastructure and industrial projects in the state, has assured the state chief minister that they are not withdrawing from the projects despite serious electoral setbacks of the Left Front.
The adverse poll results came mostly in districts where the government was keen to take over agricultural land to set up such projects. The Salim chief, Anthony Salim, was in Calcutta on Friday to assure the chief minister that they would rather wait and watch the ground situation. They are not withdrawing from the projects though acquisition of land is uncertain.
