ASM Nasiruddin Elan is the Executive Director of a non- government organization in Bangladesh called Odhikar. Odhikar essentially deals with matters relating to human rights. Recently he visited US on the invitation of the US State Department to join a program on Leadership. During his trip to USA, he visited several cities and towns, different organizations in the States and spoke to several people here. In October 1994, Odhikar (a Bangla word that means 'rights') came into being with the aim to create a wider monitoring and awareness raising system on the abuse of civil and political rights.
