Emergency May be Relaxed in Bangladesh for Local Elections : Commerce Advisor



The Advisor for Trade and Commerce in Bangladesh , Hossain Zillur Rahman has said that in view of the upcoming local elections in Bangladesh , emergency regulations in Bangladesh are going to be relaxed soon in the relevant areas. He emphasized that such relaxations would only apply to the areas where the elections are going to be held. He expects a government announcement soon to be issued by the Ministry of Homes. The election commission said that national elections would be held after the Upazilla Parishad elections.
Schedules for elections to four city corporations and nine municipalities will be announced Friday.

Now imprisoned Khaleda Zia, the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh has demanded that there should be first the National Election and the local elections. She , during her appearance in a court for corruption case , said that an unelected government does not have a mandate to organize any other elections except the national election.
