Professor Zillur Rahman Khan has taught
Political Science in the USA for over four decades now. Though he is
formally retired now, he continues to participate in seminars, symposia and
discussions. Dr Khan recently attended a seminar at the Ash Institute of
Harvard University which was jointly held by Bangladesh Development Institute.
The discussions were centered around various interesting topics ranging from flood
and climate change in Bangladesh to terrorism and foreign policy. Dr Zillur Rahman Khan's paper was on
Democracy, Governance and Nation Building. Dr Khan says that in the Seminar they
also prepared some proposals for the future elected representatives in Bangladesh .
Particularly they focused on the issue
of Justice and the precondition for justice would be a due process for law and
recognizing human rights. They also recommended that in order to assure justice
changes must be brought in the legal system in Bangladesh.
