Awami League to Hold Dialogue on Thursday

The Awami League is scheduled on Thursday to hold dialogue with the government aiming at creating a consensus on all contentious issues.
The party has already prepared a written statement that would be placed at the dialogue, scheduled to take place at the Chief Adviser's Office at 11:00am. The statement features the six-point demand it earlier made.
The demands include a permanent, unconditional release of the party chief, Sheikh Hasina, withdrawal of the state of emergency, release of all Awami League leaders and activists, effective initiatives for the trial of war criminals and holding parliamentary elections first.
The party proposal will also feature demands for effective steps to control essential goods price increase, giving scope to Hasina to contest the parliamentary elections and execution of the killers of the country's first president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four national-level leaders.
The nine-member Awami League delegation led by the acting party president, Zillur Rahman, will represent the party at the dialogue.
