Bangladesh Chief Adviser Dr Fakruddin Ahmed inaugurated the
7 nation BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral, Technical and
Economic Cooperation) ministerial meeting.
He urged the ministers to consider
the impact of recent rise in fuel and food prices on poverty.
He said due
to this price hike, poverty is increasing and poorer nations need to be united
to tackle this problem.
Bangladesh, Bhutan India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and
Thailand are members of BIMSTEC.
