foreign affairs adviser, Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, on Saturday announced an
'unequivocal and firm' stance on the issue of transit to India, saying
the foreign ministry would never ever agree any arrangement which is contrary
sovereign national interest.

said, he wished to
announce unequivocally and firmly that the ministry of foreign affairs will
never, under any circumstances, agree any arrangement that is contrary to the sovereign national interest of Bangladesh.
Iftekhar added that they were prepared to negotiate with any country on any
subject, but no solution can ever be imposed on us without our consent. This is
an axiomatic truth of diplomacy from Bangladesh perspective.
