Bangladesh High Court ruled that the president of the country cannot promulgate ordinances on issues other than those related to polls during the caretaker government rule.
According
to the High Court, the president's powers in Bangladesh are limited even during
the tenure of elected governments and it's more limited during the caretaker
rule. The High court Bench said that the president can promulgate ordinances
related to holding national elections but that that there is no such urgent
situation in the country now that the president should promulgate ordinances on
other issues.
