In this exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service ,
Professor Shahiduzzaman from the Department of International Relations, Dhaka
University, analyzes the impact and consequence of the resignation of Pervez
Musharraf , President of Pakistan. Professor Zaman sees it as a victory for the
democracy in Pakistan. He feels that the International War against terror will
be strengthened by Musharraf's resignation because the present government has
people's support.
Talking about US - Pakistan relationship Professor Shahiduzzaman says that
Pakistan's Prime Minister, during his recent US visit received massive economic
assistance and the aid could be successfully used to curb terrorism be development
work in the frontiers of Pakistan . He said that relationship with Pakistan's
neighbors, including India, could go through qualitative improvement if the
Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI could be reigned under civilian control.
